Using Banned Technologies in the Classroom!

Cell phones, MP3 players, social networks, e-readers, and student owned devices are often banned from schools. Can they play a role in student learning? Join us for demos and discussion about these technologies.

There will also be pizza for fifty cents a slice! Bring a friend!

iTeachers would like to hold a meeting with a Halloween theme. If you have any ideas for topics to cover in the next meeting please share them with us. Thank you for your help and feedback!

Eli Woody presented on using games in the classroom. He demonstrated ClassTools.net and showed how it can be used a number of ways.

The next meeting of iTeachers will be on Thursday, February 24th at 12 noon to 1 in Deay Computer Lab (Carnegie 108). The topic will be eBooks on mobile devices. There will be demos on an iPad, Nook, and Kindle. Come even if you have to come late or leave early. Pizza and cookies will be served, so grab a friend and join us!

The next meeting will be Thursday, November 11th at 4 pm in Deay Lab. The topic will be electronic whiteboards. Come and get some hands-on with the Smartboard!

Save the date!!  The next iTeacher’s meeting will be held on Thursday, April 8th at 11:45 amin the Deay computer lab at Carnegie Hall (108).  Our April meeting will focus on the ethical dilemmas that face educators when using social networking sites.  Have you ever wondered how much information you, as a professional educator, should put on social networking sites?  Or if you should use social networking sites to get to know your students?  Are there certain standards and ethics that school administrators expect teachers to know?  If you have ever asked yourself these questions, you should attend the iTeachers meeting for April.  Our guest speaker will be Dr. Wiley from Topeka High School.  Dr. Wiley will attempt to answer some of these questions and more!  Don’t miss out on your opportunity to find out more about school policies on social networking sites!
